Abstract

Identifying flora of each region is fundamental for accomplishing other pure and applied researches in biology. Especially, in the ecological conditions of protected area of Male Gale. Data were collected in 96 sampling plots using systematic_ random method. The size of sampling plot was 20 m × 50 m for the tree and shrub species, and 8 m × 8 m for herbaceous species. In this study area, 162 species, 122 genera and 43 families were identified. The largest families were Asteraceae (26 species) and Fabaceae (25 species). The frequency of Asteraceae may be due to grazing in some areas of the region. The life form spectrum includes: Hemichryptophytes (14/01 %), Therophytes (65/4 %), Cryptophytes (76/9 %), Chamaephytes (7.1 %) and Phanerophytes (5.8 %). The abundance of Therophytes and Asteraceae family is refered to destruction of forests in the study area. The highest value of the SIV tree and shrub species layer belong to Quercus brantii species and ZIziphus Mummularia. The highest value of the FIV herbaceous layer belong to Asteraceae family. The Species Important Value (SIV) of vegetation cover indicated that tree, shrubs species and herbaceous species had geometric distribution, broken stick model and lognormal distribution in this area.

Abstract

Total suspended solid (TSS) is one of the parameters that determines whether or not a body of water is polluted. One factor that influences the amount of TSS content is the characteristic of rainfall in an area. Purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the effect of rainfall characteristics and TSS content in Ciliwung River. Multiple regression analysis was used for analytical method. Results of multiple regression analysis showed that the correlation coefficient (adjusted R2) for the factors of rainfall, discharge and sediment show a low correlation to changes the content of TSS in Ciliwung River. The value of each correlation coefficient in the upstream, middle, and downstream of Ciliwung River are 0.21, 0.31, and 0.09 respectively. According to the F test, rainfall, discharge and sediment were significantly affect TSS content in the upstream and middle stream. Based on t test, it is known that only rainfall affect TSS content in the upstream and midlle stream.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystem is valuable coastal ecosystems for human because its economic, physical and ecological functions. One of the coastal areas which is the habitat of the mangove ecosystem is the coast of West Muna Regency. The coastal development in the coastal area had reduced the mangrove area and the density of mangrove ecosystem, which in turn affected the structure and density status of the ecosystem. The number of mangrove species in the coast of West Muna Regency was ten species consisting of Bruguiera cylindrica, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Rhizophora mucronata, Rhizophora apiculata, Rhizophora stylosa, Sonneratia alba, Xylocarpus granatum, Ceriops tagal, Scyphiphora hydrophyllacea, and Calophyllum inophyllum. The total density of mangrove was 752 trees/ha, however, by seeing in detail through each sampling station the density of Station I, II, III and IV was 879, 621, 687 and 820 trees/ha, respectively. Those densities are categorized as low density.

Abstract

Individual birds that are gathered from several species at one time in a certain room that form a group called the bird community. The composition of vegetation and plant species is a factor that influences the presence of birds in a habitat. The composition of vegetation that occurs due to human intervention forms artificial ecosystems or artificial ecosystems. PT PJB UP Paiton is a national vital object in the form of a power plant area for Java and Bali. The presence of PT PJB UP Paiton formed an artificial ecosystem in the area. The presence of PT PJB UP Paiton formed an artificial ecosystem in the area. Bird community index (BCI) is a technique in determining the quality of an area by using a list of bird species and guilds as indicators. The collection of bird data is carried out by the method of point transects sampling and flora data is carried out by census techniques, namely counting and measuring each individual in each species found in the observation location. Bird species diversity was calculated by Shannon-Wiener diversity index, and evenness index. Plant species diversity is measured by counting the number of species, dominance, diversity index and evenness index of plants while the composition of vegetation is measured by the percentage value of summed dominance ratio (SDR). The results obtained the highest species diversity (H '= 3.05; E = 0.62) at the Housing location and the lowest species diversity (H' = 2.12; E = 0.29) at the Pareho location. M. indica species became the most dominant tree species in housing locations (29.31%) and grocery & dams (42.79%) while office locations were dominated by A. indica trees (26.35%) and pareho by A. saman (26.89%). The results of the analysis of the relationship of vegetation to birds get an r2 value of -0.8 to 0.9 with a significant test value of Pvalue> 0.05. BCI calculation results get the category of low to medium. The highest value (64.4) was obtained at a residential location, and the lowest value (42.8) at an office location.

Abstract

Abstract

Urbanization and fragmentation are the main factors causing dynamics in the pekarangan. The dynamics that occur are related to the structure and function of the pekarangan. This makes the pekarangan performance changes according to the interference of the pekarangan owner. Selahuni 2 Homlet, Ciomas Rahayu Village, Bogor has become the location for observing the dynamics of the past two decades. Pekarangan samples taken in 2019 are exactly the same as those taken in 1998 and 2007, totaling 10 houses. The aim is to determine the extent of changes that occur in the pekarangan, both structure and function. Measuring the area, ownership of the pekarangan, recording of species and function of the existing vegetation of the pekarangan. In 2019, data on ownership of houses and pekarangans by old owners dropped dramatically by only 40%. In 2019, the average pekarangan area will decrease by an average area of 110.81 m2. In 1998, 2007 and 2019, the percentage of the number of non-ornamental plant species was 4-10% higher than that of ornamental plants. Therefore, there was a change in both the extent and ownership, function and structure of the vegetation in the Selahuni 2 Homlet’s pekarangan which was caused by urbanization and fragmentation factors.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the performance of small-scale grouper fisheries in Saleh Bay using a spatial bioeconomic approach. The optimal fishing trip allocation and economic rent based on the fishing grounds and its season were estimated using this approach. The results showed from the seven main fishing grounds (DPI) in Saleh Bay, the highest optimal trip need to be allocated to DPI-7 with approximately 2833 trips per year, followed by DPI-5 (2107), DPI-1 (1158), DPI -4 (1064), DPI-6 (970), DPI-2 (940) and DPI-3 (524). The intensity of fishing trip responded to the quasi-profit. The grouper catches produced quasi-profits of IDR 1.4 billion per year. The maximum and minimum annual profits of IDR 428 million and IDR 55 million were achieved in DPI-7 and DPI-3, respectively. This trip allocation complements the existing restriction management instrument, related to the control of input, area and season closure options. This strategy choice eases the fisheries managers to focus on spatial and temporal control efforts with high resolution.
